Meet the finalists of SMASH Helsinki Pitching Competition

Smash Helsinki is proud to present the finalists of the second ever SMASH Helsinki Pitching Competition, organized together with F6S.

From all applicants the jury selected the following finalists representing three tracks:

Active Life
Fan Engagement

Final pitchings will take place in Smash on 8 November and the winners will be invited to participate SMASH London 2019.

Congratulations to Nordea Life Innovation Challenge finalists!

Nordea Life Innovation Challenge seeks startups and/or growth companies that would bring added value to Nordea Life’s new MyLife Go insurance concept.

- We have had many interesting conversations with all the partisipants. All ideas were very inspiring and it was very hard to choose the finalists, says Nina Oja from Nordea Life.

After going through the applications and interviewing the semifinalists, the jury selected three finalists: Diske, SleepCircle and Jolly Dragon.

-  One of the most important criterion for choosing the finalists was the ability to pilot the service or product on a fast schedule for our customers. All three finalists fit to our way of thinking.

- With MyLife Go we want to encourage our customers to make healthy choices in different areas of life. The ideas of selected start-ups highlighted exactly the same goals: better sleep, healthy diet and community. Their solutions are insightful and we look forward to the finals.

Final pitches and winner announcement will take place at Smash Helsinki on Thursday, 8 November.

Join Movesense Developer Day, Movesense Meetup and Smash on Nov 6-8!

The popular Movesense Meetup concept will grow for early November. In addition to the community meetup on Wednesday Nov 7, Movesense will have a separate Movesense Developer Day on Tuesday Nov 6. The Developer Day gives any software developer in the network an opportunity to take their project to a new level by working a day together with Movesense software experts from Suunto.

Movesense is aligning the Meetup with Smash. Movesense is one of the Smash partners and there will be a dedicated Movesense area at the event where they’ll invite 2-3 companies to showcase their sports & health related Movesense projects with us.

Movesense Meetup and Developer Day will take place at Suunto office in Vantaa, Finland. Smash is happening close to Helsinki downtown in the event center Korjaamo. This is a combo that is worth a visit even from further away!

Movesense Meetup

is open for all companies and developers who are working on Movesense based projects or interested in learning more about Movesense. Smash participants outside the current Movesense community are also warmly welcome to join. The event is free of charge but a registration is needed. 50 participants will fit in.

Movesense Meetup is your opportunity to network with other Movesense community members, find business partners and share experiences with other companies, and to give your input to the future of Movesense. Movesense experts from Suunto will be available for questions during the whole event.

The program includes an overview of the Movesense platform and roadmap, case examples of on-going Movesense projects, and workshops with Suunto experts related to Movesense development and marketing. The event will be highly useful for both developers and business representatives working on Movesense projects.

If you have an interesting project that you would like to present to the audience, please get in touch by email or indicate your interest via the sign-up form.

Movesense Developer Day

is intended for software developers working or starting to work on Movesense based projects. Topics of the day will be tailored based on participant needs and wishes. We expect to have at least two tracks:

1. Getting started: a workshop that will help a new developer to kick-start a Movesense software project. We will go through the essential tips and tricks and give an overview of how to get the best out of the Movesense platform.

2. Movesense Advanced: detailed technical questions and support for ongoing Movesense projects, tools for movement analysis, and other topics to be tailored based on participant needs. This track may split into sub-topics depending on your requests.

Developer Day is free of charge but registration is required. We are preparing to work with max 20 participants. Sign up here.

You can also include Smash to your agenda and see the latest development in the Nordic sports tech scene or even present your own Movesense based product at the event. We will offer a place at our booth and event passes to 2-3 companies who want to showcase their projects at Smash.

For all other meetup participants, there is a discount code for Smash passes: the code SmashPartner20 will give you 20% off from the regular conference pass.

Nordea is the lead partner of Smash Helsinki!

This year Nordea is doubling their presence at Smash 2018 in Helsinki, as both Nordea Life and Nordea Startup & Growth are participating in the event.  "It is great to be involved in Smash with such a large group of people."

Seeking new partners

Nordea Life aims to be a modern and innovative life insurer. We are continuously developing our services together with our customers and partners. One of the big new trends in the insurance business is the customers’ desire to influence their insurance policies with their own choices. In May, we addressed this need by offering the MyLife Go service as an add-on to our life insurance policies. The service allows customers to increase their insurance cover by being more active physically and to help those in need through charity campaigns. Since wellbeing is more than just physical exercise, we are actively seeking new ideas and partners for developing MyLife Go. With this in mind, Smash is the perfect partner for us, and we intend to find some wild ideas for developing the service through the Nordea Life Innovation Challenge. You can still apply for the competition – the application period does not close until 10 September 2018!

Come and network

The national Nordea Startup & Growth unit will again be engaging with and mentoring companies at the event this year. With a team of 25 people, we serve 2,500 startups in Finland, specialising in loans for startups and growth companies. In addition, we offer crowdfunding, venture funding and junior loans as alternatives. We can apply the EU guarantee scheme to certain loans, allowing us to push their costs down to a very reasonable level. We also connect our customers to VC funds and business angels in our network so they can obtain much-needed investment, helping them to solve their growth challenges. At Smash Helsinki, you will recognise us from our blue hoodies – come over for a chat!
